On June 6th of this year Hamilton Academical player/coach Stuart Balmer agreed terms with St Mirren to become a coach/player at Love Street.

Balmer played most of his career in England with Charlton Athletic, Wigan Athletic, Oldham Athletic, Scunthorpe United and Boston United. But he started out with Celtic and was with Clyde prior to joining Hamilton.

While the experienced defender will be a registered player for the Club he will most likely only see playing time if Saints head into injury problems within the squad. Although he will be invaluable cover for the squad his primary role at Love Street will be as a Coach.
