| With wins against Morpeth, Sandal, West Hartlepool and away at Stockton the season got off to a great start, far better than some thought. The turning point was the trip to our friends at Horden when yet again they made home advantage pay. After that game a string of defeats, some by a few points like Driffield 23-24, Huddersfield 8-15 but alas some by a much larger margin.
Yesterday it was an easy win for league leaders Westoe who throughout the game looked likely to score at any time. The Redcar side again depleted by injury and unavailability held out well for the first 20 minutes but then the floodgates opened.

It would be wrong to single out those players who shone and those who were less effective, suffice to say we were stuffed.

It is a season of good will to all and so a few Christmas mentions. Thanks to those supporters who braved the trip, thanks to John English who graced the side with his presence and for 10 minutes brought a smile back to our faces as he puts it 'you get what it says on the tin'. Thanks to all the players who despite being out played still put in a great deal of effort.

So to the New Year and the second half of the season, Home fixtures against Stockton and Alnwick in January must be the springboard to greater things. Home against West and Horden in February are also '4 pointers'.
