Celtic Ready For Hartson Contract Talks
By Martin Williams August 16 2004
John Hartson has revealed that he would be happy to sign a new contract at Celtic, and also hinted that he may finish his career at the club after Manager, Martin O'Neill revealed that they would be looking to hold talks with the Welsh striker next month.
The former Arsenal, West Ham and Wimbledon man grabbed a brace in Celtic's match against Kilmarnock on Saturday before joining up with the Wales squad for Wednesday's friendly in Latvia.

And with just 11 months left on his current deal at Celtic Park, Manager, Martin O'Neill said that the club will be looking to discuss a new contract with Hartson next month.

"If that's the case let's sit down and come to an agreement because I am happy to sign," said Hartson.

The 40 times capped striker also revealed how he may remain at the club for the rest of his career.

"I always said I thought I'd return to the Premiership one day but I'm 29 now and if I was to sign a three or four-year deal it would take me to 33.

"Realistically that would mean me spending my best years here and it's more than likely I'd end my playing days at Celtic.

"At 33 I couldn't imagine going anywhere else and doing as well as I have here."
