Pre-Season - Week 10

Chris Coleman finally got his man! Freddie Eastwood has landed, and will hopefully be looking to make up for a disappointing last campaign with Wolves. Bizarrely, it was on the recommendation of Craig Bellamy that he ended up coming to the club! (Should it be revealed that Kevin Kyle also helped him make up his mind, I'll start believing this is all a dream....).

Said signing takes the pre-season tally up to four, which is some-way short of the ten Mr. Coleman and Mr. Ranson stated could be coming in when the last season finished - though more 'comings' could depend on getting rid of a lot of the dead-wood, with Kyle, Birchall, and Borrowdale possibly set to head for the door marked 'exit'.

Clinton Morrison, whose 'will he?', 'won't he?', come to Coventry saga is threatening to become as dull as the Eastwood transfer, is training with Coventry City, with Chris Coleman (Rather obviously) hoping to persuade him to join the club. An Eastwood-Morrison partnership might just have the bookies reducing the odds on Coventry City finishing high up the league table come the end of the season!

Of all the 'goings' at the club this pre-season, the saddest is the departure of David McNamee. A fully fit McNamee would be an asset to any club. Sadly, the one we signed was made of glass. Before signing for Coventry he had suffered an injury prone season or two, and never really improved in his time with us. His leaving makes bringing in a fully competent right-back an absolute necessity!

One more potential 'going' is Jay Tabb, with Reading and QPR said to be very interested. Despite claims by the club that Tabb is going nowhere, money talks, and a big offer would surely see him off to pastures new. And, with Reading valuing James Harper at around £5 million, a fee of around the same amount for Tabb should be the minimum accepted!

A practice match against Solihull Moors finished 1-1, with Manuel Curto scoring for Coventry in the second half. Sadly for Curto, it wasn't enough to earn him a contract with the club (The writing was probably on the wall for Curto when Coleman described his time here as 'OK'!).
