City were linked with a move for Parkin just before the striker and his Macclesfield team took a point from Sincil Bank in December and Macclesfield's recent financial problems mean that they have been accepting cut-price bids for the striker and now, Ray Trew, who has been under heavy critisism this week for the Keith fiasco, has confirmed the boards desire to make Lincoln City half-decent.
"I think that fact they we have made what we feel is a substancial bid for Jon Parkin shows that this football club is serious about bringing in quality players" Trew told the offical website.
However, Sunderland are also believed to tabled a bid for the striker.
