City hope for a fun day on the pitch vs Morecambe
By Nathan Jackson

Lincoln City's fans will be hoping that "fun day" won't just be restricted to off the pitch as City face Morecambe at Sincil Bank. The Imps have starting showing signs that we're starting to shape up at the back and with Adrian Patulea continuing to impress in the attack, the Imps might finally start moving up the League Two table.

The Imps have looked defensively solid in their last two games, only a fluke mistake costing them all the points at Brentford. It's starting to look good for the Imps and an interesting statistic is that if City manage a clean sheet against Morecambe, it will be the first time April 2007 that the Imps have kept consecutive clean sheets and the first time since Febuary 2007 that we've kept successive home clean sheets.

However, one reason behind our defensive stability is that neither Leicester or Brentford tested Ayden Duffy. The youngster is more than likely going to play his sixth League game for the Imps but he has yet to face opposition strikers this season that have managed many decent efforts on goal against him. However, let's not take anything away from the defence and especially Tuesday night's centre back pairing.

Danny Hone showed exactly why he should be starting games on Tuesday night, he looked comfortable at the back and certain doesn't look out of place in a relatively experienced back four. If Danny can hold his own quite well against one of the best teams from League One, then he will certainly be able to cope with facing Morecambe, no disrespect intended.

This is the first of a run of games where City face teams that are mainly around or below them in the table. In the next few weeks we face Morecambe, Chester, Macclesfield and Bournemouth, four very winnable games and if we do win those four then we will be in-or-around the Playoff places, and the sky's the limit after that.

City are unlikely to name a changed team following on from the impressive performance against Leicester City. That means that Ayden Duffy will be between the sticks, Beevers, Hone, Kovacs and Sinclair completing the defensive line up in front of him to form a defence that could finally start holding out against the opposition.

One player that I am certainly willing to praise at the moment is Shane Clarke. I was very tentative when he started last week but he has put in two very competent performances since then and finally looks like the players that the people who watched the reserves used to rave about. He will be surrounded by the midfield trio of Dany N'Guessan, Lee Frecklington and Scott Kerr.

Up front is a bit of a touchy subject at the moment. Adrian Patulea is performing at the minute but he is the only one. LJL is having an awful time so far, Ben Wright can't win headers and Kevin Gall will run all day but will never...ever look like scoring. Whoever partner's Adrian in the game will certainly have to show they are worthy of a first team place.

Morecambe sit one place and one point above the Imps and seem to be suffering from "second season-itis." If there was one club that impressed me in this division, it was Morecambe. They were god awful in last season's game at Sincil Bank but were highly impressive at Christie Park, a game which City somehow managed to win.

Ironically, just like the Imps, their only win of the season so far came on September 6th, beating Shrewsbury Town at home. They have drawn two of their three away games by a secore of 1-1 with a 2-1 defeat at Bury accompaning that. They will hope to pick up some points at Sincil Bank as they face a tricky run of games, facing Chesterfield, Gillingham, Rochdale and Brentford in their next four games.
