Not many had heard of Adrian Patulea when he turned up at Sincil Bank for a friendly against Lincoln United in July. Many fans looked at him and thought to themselves, "WHO IS THAT?" But 90 minutes later and we all knew his name and he had scored a brilliant hatrick in the space of the second half.
From that point onwards it's been a struggle. Visiting his brother, Patulea was encouraged to try and sign for Lincoln City and he begged Peter Jackson for the aforementioned chance, got it and impressed many that the club tried to bring him in, however, that's when the confusion started.
After initially telling Peter Jackson that he had no current club, it turned out he was in the middle of a three year contract with Petrolul Ploiesti, a club in Romania's second division. Several weeks of negotiations, highs and lows, optimism and pessimism later and Patulea is almost a City player. He has penned a contract until the end of the season and if the necessary paper work is processed by 2pm on Friday afternoon, he will be eligible to play in the big derby game against Grimsby Town.

A pity. A lovely lady. Had the pleasure of sitting next to her once on a flight from Geneva to London. Class act!
