Grecians batter Gulls to make BSP Playoff Final
By Nathan Jackson May 5 2008
Exeter City reached their second consecutive Playoff final after battering Torquay United at Plainmoor to win 5-3 on aggregate, despite going into the second leg with a deficit. It is a repeat of last season's semi finals when Exeter came from behind to progress and they will now face either Cambridge United or Burton Albion in the final.

After a goalless first half, long serving Kevin Hill gave Torquay a 1-0 advantage on the day and a 3-1 advantage on aggregate. It appeared it would need a minor miracle for Exeter to Progress, but they gained a lifeline when Ryan Harley scored after coming on from the bench.

Exeter drew level on aggregate a few minutes later when Ben Watson converted a penalty before one ex-Imp beat another when Richard Logan headed past Rayner in the final few minutes. That meant Exeter were now in the lead overall and Wayne Carlisle sealed overall victory for the Grecians with a late, late winner.

Exeter will be hoping to go one better next week after losing the Playoff Final to Morecambe last season.
