Doncaster ended their best ever season of National League rugby with
third spot in National One after another good home win.
They
were first on the scoreboard with a try from prop Ngalu Tau on 17
minutes and Mark Woodrow converted it for 7-0.
Four
minutes later and the visitors were level with a try from Adam Kettle
and James Pritchard converted and the sides went in level at the break.
Five
minutes into the second half and
Doncaster were back in front after a try from left wing Wes Davies
and Woodrow again converted.
Back
came the Blues with replacement back Alex Page going over and they were
two points back with Pritchard missing the conversion.
Woodrow
edged the home side three more points ahead with a 73rd
minute penalty goal before the win was sealed when the other winger Paul
Bailey touched down a few minutes later.
Otley 10 London Welsh 12
Otley:

Otley
need to win and pick up a bonus point to have a realistic chance of
staying up and hope Moseley lost without a bonus point but neither
happened and Otley were relegated to National Two.
The home
side led 10-0 at half time after a 19th minute penalty goal
form full back Ian Shuttleworth and a 40th minute try from
winger Danny Smith converted by Shuttleworth. Smith finished the season
as the clubs leading try scorer with 11.
It took
till the 62nd minute for the score to change with left winger
James Greenwood going over for the Welsh and Dylan Pugh adding the
conversion.
The
winning score came on 73 minutes when No 8 Paul Cox went over for a try
and a two point lead which they kept till the end.
Waterloo 20 Moseley 33

Moseley: Tries: Bressington 2 (24, 30), Rodwell (53). Cons: Thomas

Moseley
made sure they were not relegated with this away win at Waterloo and
guaranteed themselves National One rugby for next season but with Otley
losing at home it did not matter but better to be safe than sorry.
Waterloo
were first on the scoreboard with centre Freeman Payne going over after
just three minutes and Alex Davies adding the conversion.
Ollie
Thomas kicked the visitors 9-7 ahead with three penalty goals and when
he converted a Nathan Bressington try on 24 minutes they were 16-7 in
front.
On the
half hour mark they went 23-7 ahead with Bressington completing a
double. Late in the half Davies and Thomas exchanged penalty goal and
Moseley went in 26-10 ahead.
Waterloo
were right back in it after 48 minutes after Davies kicked a second
penalty goal and then converted a try form prop Jonathan Hopgood to make
it 26-20.
On 53
minutes Moseley went 33-20 ahead after No 8 James Rodwell touched down
and Thomas converted.
Plymouth Albion 22 Leeds Tykes 22

Champions Leeds Tykes were held to a draw in their final game of the
season at Brickfields by Plymouth Albion to finish the season five
points clear of the Earth Titans. .
Albion
made a good start and were 7-0 ahead after three minutes after centre
Regardt Van Eyk went over for a try and added the conversion.
By half
time the Tykes were 15-7 ahead after they ran in three unconverted
tries.
First on
the scoreboard was prop Mike McDonald followed by the winger Richard
Welding and Tom Biggs.
Two
tries in the opening eight minutes of the second half form right wing
Tom Arscott put Albion back in front at 19-15 with Van Eyk converting
the second of the tries.
No 8
Mark Lock put the Tykes back in front with a try and this time Leigh
Hinton converted as they claimed the try bonus point and went 22-19
ahead.
The game
was settled on a penalty goal form Van Eyk on 66 minutes which levelled
it up at 22 all.
Pertemps Bees 36 Nottingham 43

Good
away win for Nottingham over the Pertemps Bees to consolidate ninth
place in the table and finish three points behind the Bees.
It was a
tight first half with the visitors just edging it 15-14 with the home
side getting tries through full back Matthew Nutthal and winger Kyle
Palm whilst for Nottingham there were tries for prop Neil Fowkes and
centre Tim Molenaar.
Seven
minutes into the second half and the Bees were back in front after a try
from the other winger Reece Spee and Jon Higgins made it three
conversions out of three for 21-15.
The lead
last just four minutes before flanker Luke Sherriff went over and Neil
Stenhouse converted. They went 29-21 ahead three minutes later when
second half replacement Ben Thompson went over and Stenhouse was again
on target.
Three
tries in 10 minutes turned it round and the Bees went into a 36-29 lead
after both Palm and Nutthal completed double after flanker Akapusi Qera
got the first on 56 minutes.
Three
minutes later and it was all square after the referee awarded Nottingham
a penalty try and Stenhouse converted.
The
winning score came n 72 minutes when full back Rohan Nirmalendran went
over and Stenhouse put over his fourth conversion of the afternoon to
wrap up the win.
Exeter Chiefs 43 Sedgley Park 21

Exeter
Chiefs confirmed fourth place in the table after this home win over
Sedgley Park out scoring them seven tries to three.
They
were ahead on three minutes with left wing Alistair Murdoch going over
for a try and Tony Yapp adding the conversion. They went 14-0 ahead
seven minutes later when Yapp went over and added the extras.
On 23
minutes Park were on the scoreboard with centre Chris Hall going over
and Matt Riley converting.
The
Chiefs took control after that with three more tries before half time to
lead 33-7 and have the try bonus point in the bag. They were awarded a
penalty try and Murdoch got a second try and replacement forward Chad
Slade got the other and Yapp added a couple of conversions.
Two
minutes into the second half and fly half Phil Jones touched down for
Park and Riley again converted.
We then
had Murdoch completing his hat trick two minutes later and five minutes
after that equalling the club record of four tries in a match to stretch
the lead to 43-14.
Jones
went on to complete a double for Park on 54 minutes in what turned out
to be the final score of the match with the fourth quarter scoreless.
Coventry 20 Cornish Pirates 32
Coventry:

The
Cornish Pirates picked up their 20th win of the season and
finished in fifth place in the table with 101 points.
Coventry
were first on the scoreboard with full back Ben Russell putting over a 9th
minute penalty goal and on 20 minutes they went 8-0 ahead with No 8 Tom
Johnson getting the games first try.
Seven
minutes later and Alberto Di Bernardo put over a penalty goal for the
Pirates and five minutes later they were level after flanker Iva
Motusaga went over for a try. Late in the half Coventry regained the
lead when wing Ben Toft went over for an unconverted try.
Six
minutes into the second half and the Pirates were in front after they
were awarded a penalty try to lead 15-13.
Nine
minutes later and Coventry were back in front with a try from their
other winger George Dixon and Russell converted to make it 20-15.
The lead
last nearly 20 minutes before Pirates wing Rhodri McAtee went over and
Di Bernardo converted to make it 22-20.
In
injury time the visitors ran in two more tries to run out 12 winners as
replacement backs Sam Parsons and Henry Barrett touched down.
Newbury 21 Earth Titans 57

Earth
Titans finished off the season with a comprehensive win at Newbury after
doing most of the damage in the first half as they built up a 29-0 lead.
They
were ahead after five minutes with a try from scrum half and captain Joe
Bedford and it was 12-0 on 12 minutes with winger Brian Tuohy going over
and this time Gareth Steenson converted.
Flanker
Jamie Bornman got the third and them there were two for winger Eric
Claassens and they had the bonus point in the bag and well on their way
to their 23rd win of the season.
15
minutes into the second half and the home side were off the mark with
second row Jonathan Chance going over and the trusty boot of Nick Defty
adding the extras.
Three
minutes later Claassens completed his hat trick and they were 36-7
ahead. The home side did then get a couple more tries as replacement
back row man Chris Rainbow and left wing Martin Nutt touched down and
Defty added the conversions.
The
Titans were not finished and ran in three tries in the final ten minutes
to pass the 50 point mark and Claassens ended the match with four tries
and moved onto 11 for the season. Steenson finished the match with six
conversions and that took him to 79 for the season the division’s leader
in that category.
