Reading made no changes from the side that beat Gillingham away a few days earlier. Adrian Williams
returned on the bench after a toe injury.
Reading started brightly and looked dangerous going forward with Lloyd
Owusu causing the two Burnley centre backs no end of problems with winning
the ball in the air. Then eventually the breakthrough game when a kick up field
looked to be going nowhere but when Mo Camera headed the ball back to Burnley
goalkeeper Brian Jensen the ball sailed over the Dane leaving Owusu with
one of the simplest finishes of his career and he went away and celebrated
in usual Lloyd Owusu fashion. Reading looked to be in control and got the
important breakthrough.
Though Burnley hit back almost immediately when a through ball was not
cut out by Ingimarsson , the ball found Ian Moore and his shot found its
way past Hahnemann and into the bottom corner of the net only five minutes
after the Royals had taken the lead. Royals looked to take the lead again
but were finding it difficult against a stubborn Burnley side who were
struggling on the pitch in the league and off it financially. Though with
players like Moore, Blake and Little they do pose good quality in the
final third.

Burnley came out second full of confidence as they tried to carry on
there good run of form lately which saw them win 4:2 at Ipswich a couple
of weeks before.
Dean Morgan was brought on for Salako who was struggling to get into
the game. Burnley were taking the game to Reading and were causing us
problems and it was inevitable they were going to score eventually and it happened
right on the 70 minute mark. It was another goal that could have been
stopped, a corner in was cleared out to Camera who crossed the ball back
in which should have been cleared by Sidwell who missed the ball and May
knocked the ball past Hahnemann into the bottom corner.
Steve Coppell reacted immediately by bringing on Dave Kitson and Scott
Murray in place of Shaun Goater and Andy Hughes. It seemed to do the trick
although Reading were still not causing the rather dodgy Burnley
goalkeeper any problems at all. Kitson was yet again causing problems and
it was his persistence which got Reading out of jail and a share of the
spoils, a ball into the box found Kitson who tried to get his way through
a number of Burnley players, the ball found Harper who smashed the ball
home to send the 10,000 crowd into the raptures! Reading did not deserve
it but they must take the point and build on it for Saturday's big game
with Play-Off rivals, Sheffield United.

Man Of The Match: Lloyd Owusu: The on loan Sheffield Wednesday forward
has made a big impression on Reading fans and added to it by scoring one
and making him a nuisance upfront.
Ref Watch: Again very poor, same as on Saturday, what do Reading have
to do to get a referee that actually watches the game!.
