Ipswich were on the back of eight straight wins away from home and had the threat of Pablo Counago and Shefki Kuqi upfront though the Royals defence had obviously been worked on after the three goals given away at Preston last week.
The game could have been won by either team, with both looking good when going forward but good defending stopped that. Reading got into dangerous positions but were unable to open up the Ipswich defence and create a good opportunity though Lloyd Owusu was unlucky with a couple of headers that went over the bar.

Half Time: Reading 0:0 Ipswich Town

Into the second half and the game became very open and but it took until the 62nd minute for Reading to muster something up. It was reminiscing of Reading last season. Reading counter attacked after and Ipswich corner, it started with Hahnemann drop kicking the ball up field to Murray whose run and cross was perfect for Owusu whose header flew past Kelvin Davis. The majority of the 17,000 crowd went jubilant including Owusu who is quickly becoming a fans favourite.

All Reading had to do was hold on for 25 minutes but ten minutes later Ipswich got back on level terms from a corner. From the corner the ball found defender John McGreal who managed to put the ball into the goal. Reading seemed to have enough opportunities to clear the ball but so one managed to.
Steve Coppell then decided to make a couple of changes and bring off Goater and Owusu and bring on Dean Morgan and Dave Kitson who made his first appearance in a Reading shirt. Kitson was clearly lacking match fitness but Morgan again looked a handful nearly paid off but for his shot that went off for a throw in! Overall though a much improved Reading performance and if they can keep it up they certainly have a chance of being in there come the end of the season.

Ref Watch: Did ok but very frustrating at times especially with the travelling fans.
