My attempts at finding the All Blacks match were thwarted by some interesting haggling on the part of a bar owner and a huge tropical storm which even the locals described as big prevented me seeing the England game!
Flanagan’s Bar in downtown Kuala Lumpur was the place be I was assured so after some heavy retail therapy at Lot 10 and the Petronas Towers, I headed off to meet up with my colleagues who were keen to see some egg chasing. The landlord who had assured us that the match would be on was out and instead of the Emerald Isle’s finest taking on the All Blacks, we had snow boarding from Canada. Ahhhh said the sages in the resident expat community, wrong bar so with instructions for a new bar we prepared for a Sunday evening’s entertainment. And then the heavens opened and when it rains in the tropics, it RAINS! Staring at the river running past the hotel, we decided that discretion was the better part of valour. Which means I have no idea whether the second bar was any better!
But I am an amateur at this game, and hence the reason for the article...
Calling on all expats and friends of this message board. If you know where an England or game involving an English club is going to be shown live in places around the globe – then post a message on the board.
We’ll create a list of havens of rugby fare and add an article on the site. All we need is what’s being shown (England, GP rugby, Heineken Cup etc etc) and where, links to maps would be good.
So friends please help the needy in this great cause! I'm lucky today - I'm back in front of the TV in Essex - others still need your support!
