By Todd Grainger December 27 2005
Boxing day seen a very festive , clash when 4th place Tottenham took on lowly 19th Birmingham, Tottenham were always favorites for the clash on paper but could the blues cause and upset?
No , they couldn`t although there performance was "spirited" they failed to score , in a lively first half with neither team being able to break the deadlock although the blues would have been the happier side going in at half time at 0-0 , in the second half 13 minutes in and a dogey tackle from Matthew Upson, saw Tottenham awarded a penalty, with Robbie Keane sending Maik Taylor the wrong way to send the spurs 1-0 up, the blues had a few and far chances on goal but failed to capatalize, with the blues aiming to equalize , Muzzy Izzet was sent of for a dive, (second bookable offence) which didn`t help the blues campaign , the Birmingham boys seemed to have lost to the 1-0 goal from robbie keane when jermaine defoe smashed the ball into the net deep in injury time to deepen the Blues relegation woes.

Blues boss said:-

"We took on the team in fourth position at the start of play and anyone who walked into the ground would not have known who was at the top of the league and who was at the bottom.
"We have got to take the positives out of the performance and, if we keep playing like that, I'm sure something will turn for us.

"We have got a lot of games and we have had to make changes and I was pleased with all the players who came in.

"We would all like a striker and that is what we need. We need someone to be firing for us."

Meanwhile frustrated Forsell admits his fears to the press:-

The Finnish striker clinched a permanent move to St Andrews from Chelsea in the summer, and was expected to provide the Blues with a stead stream of goals.

However, as the Midlands outfit continue to struggle near the foot of The Premiership table, Forssell admits he is concerned he is yet to score in seven league starts.

"It is very frustrating," said Forssell. "I always look at myself first, I ask what can I do to better myself?
"At the start of the season, obviously I was still coming back from my knee injury. Then I got a bit of a setback with my thigh, so I'm still getting into it.

"But soon I have to be staying that I've been playing for a long time and should be getting fitter and better. I am feeling better all the time and going in the right direction. But, at the moment, the way things are for me and the team, it is just not happening."
