July 22 2006
In part 6 of our IN FOCUS series we look at the double promotion wining team Southend United who only two season ago were in the basement league of football. And now they are playing with the big boys. (Well err the bigger boys)

NOTE : Remember this is only my point of view and i do not know your club inside out so if there's minor things wrong it's not the end of the world.

Manager : Steve Tilson

Key Player :
Freddy Eastwood

Tipped by the bookies for : Relegation.

05/06 season : Last season Southend United surprised everyone by finishing as Champions of League 1 as they won back-to-back promotion to the Championship . 23 wins from 46 games saw Southend finish at the top of the league and on the last day of the season securing there champions status by beating Bristol City 1-0 thanks to a goal from Wayne Gray.

This season : Most newly promoted teams are tipped for relegation as Southend are but i think they will finish in a respectable position thanks to some quality signings in Michael Ricketts and Stevie Hammell .

They’ll finish higher if : Freddy Eastwood can score another 23 goals this season .

What www.bluenose.tk Predict's : 19th A decent finish for a newly promoted team in my opinion and Southend may have a few shock results this year.
