Second Division Barnsley have managed to sign young forward Daniel Nardiello on-loan from Manchester United. The youngster was highly rated but failed to make an impact this season at Old Trafford going out on loan to Swansea this season.

Thordarson said: "I'd like to thank Sir Alex Ferguson for his help in allowing us to take Daniel on loan.

"We have discussed potential signings for several weeks and Sir Alex has kept us fully informed of the players he'd allow out and who he'd be happy to let come to Oakwell.

"He called us earlier this week and this signing is the outcome of that," he told Barnsley's official website.

The signing should help the Tykes in their bid to gain promotion from Division Two and make the big time again.

He will hope that he can prove his worth to Man Utd.
