England slumped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of a jubilant Northern Ireland as Leeds United striker David Healy struck a late second-half goal in-front of an ecstatic Windsor Park crowd.

Chants of "Sack the Swede" from the England contingent was heard late in the game, making their disproval shown for his controversial 4-5-1 formation.

As Poland beat Wales 1-0 at home, they now lead Group 6 of the World Cup Qualification leagues.

United's Wayne Rooney was lucky to escape a sending off in the first-half as he let his emotions get the better of him and will miss England's next game due to a booking. Rio Ferdinand played a full 90 minutes and was guilty of a few sloppy passes throughout the game.

Kieran Richardson failed to make the 16-man squad despite a decent late showing at the Millennium Stadium on the weekend
