League Cup draw on Saturday afternoon

Third Round Draw
By Chris, August 27 2008
The draw for the League Cup third round is made on Saturday ith the Red Devils, and the other clubs competing in Europe, set to enter the competition. Sir Alex Ferguson will be hoping to lead United to a third triumph in the Carling-sponsored competition - with United priced at 6/1 second favourites to win the silverware.

Premier League trio Bolton Wanderers, West Bromwich Albion and Hull City were all dumped out of the competition by lower-league competition following an exciting set of second round ties.

United, and other sides competing in Europe, enter the Carling-sponsored competition at the third round stage. The draw will be made live on Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday show with Jeff Stelling.

Last season, United's campaign in this competition ended at the first hurdle. A weakened side were well beaten by Coventry City at Old Trafford.

The draw is not seeded so United could face anyone from luck-filled, arch-rivals Liverpool to League Two crisis-club Rotherham; who gave their fans cause for celebration with a penalty shoot-out win against Wolves.

The 32-teams who will go into the hat on Saturday are below:

Arsenal
Aston Villa
Blackburn Rovers
Burnley
Cardiff City
Chelsea
Cheltenham Town
Crewe Alexandra
Derby County
Everton
Fulham
Hartlepool United
Ipswich Town
Leeds United

Manchester City
Manchester United
Middlesbrough
Newcastle United
Northampton Town
Queens Park Rangers
Reading
Rotherham United
Sheffield United
Southampton
