Pilgrims edge out Rebels in Bank Holiday contest

FCUM 0-1 Boston United
By Chris, August 25 2008
Bank Holiday Monday saw FC United of Manchester entertain, arguably, their most illustrious and well-known opponents since the Red Rebels burst onto the scene in 2005. Boston United were at Gigg Lane facing Bury in League Two just a couple of seasons ago – but have fallen from grace since. 2,825 were in attendance as the Pilgrims condemned FCUM to their second defeat of the new campaign.

FC produced a decent performance and Kyle Wilson went close on a handful of occasions - but the visitors claimed the points with Ollie Ryan's smart volley settling the contest shortly before the half-time break.

The result sees Karl Marginson's men slip to 15th in the NPL table. They'll be anxious for three points on Saturday against Whitby Town who have started the season with four consecutive defeats.
