Calderon: "We'll battle for Ronaldo signing"

Wanted property

The big-wigs at Real Madrid are stoking the fire once again. Los Blancos president Ramon Calderon believes United are simply holding out for a bigger fee for the winger – and insists his club will continue to pursue a transfer. Instead of the traditional approach of making an offer for Ronaldo to MUFC, Madrid seem to prefer to tease the press and create an atmosphere of total uncertainty.

Calderon's comments follow another week of frustrating yo-yo speculation surrounding the player's immediate future.

Sir Alex Ferguson, who met the player last week, has said that the player would definitely still be at United next season. Check out ManUtdWeb's story > HERE.

However, his words were followed by a confusing interview which Ronaldo gave to ESPN in Portugal. The winger claimed only God knew where his future would lie - and he refused to back-up his managers word. Read our article > HERE.

Now, Calderon has waded back into the media circus which surrounds the saga by insisting that his club are totally committed to bringing Ronaldo to the Bernabeu.

He said: This type [of transfer] is hard. But we're going to go for it all the same.

"I suppose it's all about a manner of theirs to let us know clearly that they're not going to lower the price in any way and that if we want him we have to pay a lot more money."

Reports in Spain suggest Madrid are prepared to spend £68million on the star. Let's bite their hands off - sell the want-away player and strengthen the squad with players who actually want to play for MUFC - the 2008 champions of England and Europe!
