King Eric baffled by Ron
Cantona has weighed into the debate on Ronaldo's future by insisting that the free-scoring midfielder should stay at Old Trafford.
King Eric spent four and a half happy years at Old Trafford and netted 64 goals from 144 league appearances.
"The way United play is perfect for him and the way he plays is perfect for United. It is a perfect situation." said Cantona, who hung up his boots at the tender age of thirty over a decade ago.
"I do not know his personality. I do not know why he would want to go to Real Madrid."
The controversial Frenchman, who now spends his time making films and playing beach football, is one of the most popular characters in the club's history and will always hold a special place in MUFC folklore.
Ronaldo, regarded as our latest 'great number seven', had looked set to enjoy a legend-like career at United after an incredible 42-goal season. However, he wants to join Real Madrid - in a deal he anticipates would be a "forward move".
Cantona brought memories of the glorious 1990s flooding back when he concluded an interview with Sport Magazine by saying, when asked if he'd ever considered handing in a transfer request: "Me? Never. I could never play for another club."
Cantona & Ronaldo: Two great players - but two very different personalities.
Whilst Cantona's name will always bring back some glorious memories, Ronaldo's could well be associated with greed and a distinct lack of loyalty.
