Date set for Lancashire Cup final

The Lancashire FA
By Chris, June 27 2008
The date for the Lancashire Senior Cup final has been confirmed. Manchester United's second-string, now managed by club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, will do battle with the Scousers as the LFA's Country Ground in Leyland. The competition's final usually takes place towards the end of July and this season is no exception - with the two rivals set to do battle on Wednesday, 30th.

The Red Devils have reached the final following wins against Oldham Athletic and Bolton, whilst Liverpool have put Wigan and a full-strength Accrington side to the sword.

Whilst the Canterbury-sponsored tournament is the senior competition for Lancashire FA clubs; the likes of United and the Scousers usually field reserve-teams.

The game will be Solskjaer's first in charge as United's second-string boss - and will be a testing welcome to football management.

United's reserves have already won the Manchester Senior Cup this season. Can they make it a superb double?
