No respect
Ronaldo has always expressed a strong desire to play in Spain one day so, to some extent, it isn't a surprise that the player fancies a move to Real Madrid.
However, both the timing of his statement and his disrespectful attitude have left supporters gobsmacked.
Ronaldo was on scintillating form throughout the 2007/2008 campaign. He netted no less than 42 goals as he led the Red Devils to success in the Premier League and the European Cup.
The media have spent the season building him up as the successor to Red legends like George Best, Eric Cantona and David Beckham. However, the winger clearly has no intention of hanging around at United.
"Everybody knows what I want but things don't only depend on me." he said.
"I am not the person who decides but I hope to complete my dream."
Ronaldo went onto to spit on the club that saw him break into the limelight by describing a transfer to Real as a forward move. He also revealed that new Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has played a factor in his decision to seek a new challenge.
"It [playing for Real] is a dream, a step forward,
"For me, it is a great opportunity and, as Scolari says, that train passes by only once and we have to take advantage of it."
Ronaldo is yet to discuss his comments with Ferguson; but he gave the Scotsman a taste of what's coming by adding: "I don't mind if people get upset. It is my decision."
To be blunt, I am disgusted by Ronaldo's attitude. Ferguson, who spotted the player as United lost to Sporting Lisbon in a friendly, put the player on the world map.
He's improved drastically as a player at United and now has the arrogance and audacity to make such comments before even meeting Sir Alex.
Fergie has never built a team around people who think they are bigger than the football club. United are adamant that the player won't be going anywhere - but, personally, I don't want Ronaldo at Old Trafford if his heart is not with the club.
The player has just come through an incredible season and may never dictate a higher transfer value ever again.
ManUtdWeb are putting our necks on the line and are calling for the club to sell Ronaldo to Real Madrid. The money could be used to buy a handful of world class players who actually want to play for Europe's finest football team.
