McCann's the Mann

Vauxhall came up against probably the biggest giant killers in this seasons Cheshire Senior Cup. Woodley Sports sent Second Division Stockport County crashing out at the first hurdle. Woodley are pushing for promotion to the UniBond First Division, and on this performamce they don't look out of their depth. They were never behind and took The Motormen to 120 minutes of football.

Vauxhall keeper Steve Hilton returned after one game to replace the rested on-loan keeper Matty Higgins. Rigby, Griffiths and Gareth Hooper also made the starting eleven. Matthew Hogg made the squad for the first time since last season. midfielder Neal McCann and Stuart Wright made up the rest of Vauxhall Motors bench.

Vauxhall rarely troubled the visitors' defence. whilst the other end saw efforts from Martyn Andrews, Simon Hackney and Lee Bromley in first half.

The second was a better performance, but Woodley always looked in control. Hilton made two top drawer saves to deny Woodley a normal time win.

Lee Kissock, Terry Fearns and Peter "Wacker" Cumiskey all hit the frame off the goal in the few chances Vauxhall did create.

The game finished at 90 minutes stalemate and the fans ending up staying for a further 30 minutes for the conclusion.

Whelan cleared a stunning effort from Hackney early on in extra time.

Vauxhall found themselves behind after 95 mintues when Mike Norton scored past Hilton after being played through by Greg Bricknell.

Vauxhall then took over the game to try to rescue the match, and just minutes from another cup exit, Sub Stuart Wright crossed from the left and Terry Fearns cushioned his header into the path of Neal McCann whose diving header levelled the tie.
