Vauxhall Slump Continues

This game matched the weather as bad conditions at Rivacre Park was capped off with a bad performance that saw Radcliffe hammer home five goals and all three points that took them further ahead of Vauxhall in the league.

The Motormen had the first chance in the game, and if Terry Fearns had hit the net instead of the post things may have proved to of been alot different. From this point the visitors ran riot.

Both Terry Fearns for Vauxhall and Jody Benim for Radcliffe were put under the spotlight as they are topping the goalscoring charts. Tonight was the night for Boro's Jody Benim to take all the praise as he took on Chris Whelan before firing the ball in off the post on 24 minutes.

Five minutes later the hosts doubled their lead when Motors' shot stopper Steve Hilton allowed a Simon Carden shot go under his body and into the back of the net after he was set up from Battersby's cross.

Things were made even worse for the hosts as Kevin Lynch attempts of catching Jody Benim failed as he took the ball round Hilton for the third and his second of the game. It was looking highly unlikely that Vauxhall would stage a comeback as they just couldn't get to grips with the game.

Half Time: Vauxhall Motors 0-3 Radcliffe Borough

The home side came out looking to get an early goal that would put themselves back in with a chance of getting something out of the game. Instead the slump continued, Jody Benim made absolutely sure that Boro would take all three points as he took on Derek Ward and Neil Rigby on route for his hat-trick. As he struck Boro's fourth for the second time in the game the ball crepped under Hilton.

Radcliffe helped themselves to a fifth goal when Simon Carden claimed his second when he met a cross from Boro's winger Tony Whealing.

It was not hard to see that Vauxhall were missing three influential defenders. Mike Tomlinson and Wayne McDermott. Also Craig Robinson who was suffering from a back injury.

Full Time: Vauxhall Motors 0-5 Radcliffe Borough

Man of the Match: No Vauxhall player played well enough to warrant this award. So we have decided that Jody Benim was the best player on the pitch and helped himself to a well deserved hat-trick.

Teams: Hilton, Ward, Rigby, Lynch, Whelan, Norman, Nesbitt, Lawton, Fearns, Wright (Kissock 45), Cumiskey.

The Motormen next make the trip to Horsfall Staduim where Bradford Park Avenue are the hosts. Vauxhall will be looking for revenge as their opponents were the ones that knocked them out of the F.A Cup.
