Motors Clinch The Points

The Motormen claimed a well deserved three points as they ran out 3-2 winners as they played hosts to Burscough at Rivacre Park.

The deadlock was broken after some good pressure produced from the home side payed off in the 16th minute when Carl Nesbitt was found unmarked as he slotted the ball straight passed the Burscough shot stopper.

The goal seemed to wake the visitors up and some good passing movements led to an equaliser just two minutes after Carl Nesbitt's opener.

Peter Cumiskey then broke clear not for the first time in the half, and ensured The Motormen would go in at the break with a 2-1 advantage.

In the second half the visitors came out the stronger in search of an equaliser and maybe a winner. After some good pressure from Burscough they found their second equaliser of the game in the 65th minute as the helpless Andy Ralph could only watch the ball go straight into the back of the net.

The game took another turn, but this time it was for the home side with just 10 minutes to go when they were rewarded a penalty. Peter Cumiskey stepped up and kept his nerve and fired home the spot kick and all three points Vauxhall.
