Motors Held To Alty

The home crowd saw a different performance from The Motormen after an impresive display when they beat Bltyh Spartans 6-3 last time out.

The game started with no opportunities made during the opening 10 minutes. After 14 minutes it was a different story as a well executed pass from John Norman led to the in-form Terry Fearns being allowed to turn and burst into the visitors penalty area, who then struk a good shot straight passed the Alty shot stoppper.

Vauxhall kept up the pressure and didn't leave any gaps in the defence for Altrincham to find an equaliser. A good first half from The Motormen saw them go in at the interval 1-0 to the good.

Half Time: Vauxhall Motors 1-0 Altrincham

After the break the visitors came out the stronger of the two. A brace of saves early on in the second half from Motors shot stopper Andy Ralph kept the home side still in the game. Both of these shots came from Alty's Peter Band but thanks to the brilliant reflexes of Andy Ralph The Motormen hung on, and were still 1-0 up at this point in the game

It was then the home side who should of killed the game off and secured all 3 points as Terry Fearns had two shots go wide of the target much to the relief of the visitors.

Altrincham did not give up and were soon rewarded with a goal 9 minutes from time when a contender for goal of the season saw Alty skipper Ian Craney delivered a totally unstoppable shot that beat Andy Ralph and his clean sheet.

Full Time : Vauxhall Motors 2-0 Alrtincham
