| Motors started the brighter of the two sides, with Peter Cumiskey
Cuttong in from the left to release a long range shot which Droylsden shot
stopper Paul Phillips did well to stop.
Kilheeny and Chambers produced a well worked move, but was caught out the Motors offside trap. Chris Whelan brought down Paul Challinor on 25 minutes, Neil Hall converted the penalty the resultant penalty past Andy Ralph. This provided as a wake-up call for Vauxhall and remained in control for the remaining 20 minutes of the half. Cumiskey took on three Bloods defenders before a good tackle by Burke to stop the run. New boy John Norman's effort fell the wrong side of Droylsden's post. Half Time: Droylsden 1-0 Vauxhall Motors Vauxhall came out trying to reproduce the second half display they did 48 hours earlier, that saw them comeback back from two down to score SIX second half goals. On 53 minutes Motors struck level when ex-Burscough boy John Norman was upended inside the box. Cumiskey stepped up and made no mistake fropm 12 yards. Fearns could have and should have made it four goals of the season only to fire over when one on one with Phillips. Young found a shooting position only to be dispached of the ball at the last second by Darren Wright. Ralph turned Wright's shot round the post for a corner. Off the corner Warner's header was cleared off the line by Mike Tomlinson, this time Porter's corner found the head of Furlong who restored the Manchester outfit one goal advantage with 15 minutes to play. Vauxhall came back strong and had a penalty appeal turned down after the ball had seemingly struck the hand of Wright. A Cumiskey cross was cleared by Hall at the back post.
