Motors Start With A Draw

The Motormen came out and dominated the opening stages of the game that led to a well struck shot from Vauxhall striker Nicky Young who just missed the target much to the relief of the home supporters.

The next chance of the game fell to Terry Fearns as the ball broke kindly for him when he hit his shot just passed the wrong side of the post. Not long after, some more pressure from the visitors saw Kevin "Roy Keane" Lynch narrowly miss the target as he tried to break the deadlock.

Vauxhall then should and definetly could of been the first to score as they had a strong appeal for a penalty that was waved away by the referee much to the frustration of the visiting team. It all started with a 3 man passing move that eventually was played to Motors midfielder Carl Nesbitt who struck the up-right minutes from half time. There was another chance just before half time as the home side had their first chance of the match that called Motormen shot stopper Andy Ralph into action but he made a comfortable save to prevent Lancaster what would have been an undeserved lead on the stroke of half time.

Half Time:Lancaster City 0-0 Vauxhall Motors

In the second half both teams came out trying to secure all 3 points instead of sharing the spoils. Motors started of the more brightly and the most likely to be the first to hit the net when a chance fell to attacking midfielder Peter Cumiskey known to his team-mates as Wacker. He was very unlucky not to register his first goal of the campaign as he watched his shot go agonisingly wide of the goal. The last chance that Vauxhall had was when Nicky Young was unable to direct his shot passed the Lancaster shot stopper.

Lancaster could of stole all 3 points when a few cahnces from defender Kilbane who missed the target on all of his shots bar one that pulled out a good reflex save from Andy Ralph in the Motors goal.
