The game started with some good possesion from both teams in short spells after the first couple of minutes. The first chance came to TNS when a free kick from full back Naylor was fired low across the Motors penalty area but Nicky Young was on hand to clear for the home team.
A few minutes later some good passing from TNS produced a cross by Taylor on the left but Hilton was fouled by a TNS striker and a free kick was rewarded. Then came a foul by former Chester City midfielder Scott Ruscoe that produced a free kick that Nicky Young could only hit straight at the TNS shot stopper Doherty.
Some good possesion led to the ball being played into Jamie Hughes from Peter Cumiskey who had his shirt pulled back that prevented hime from progressing into the TNS penalty area. From the resulting free kick Nicky Young fired home a great shot into the top corner of the net that gave The Motormen an early advantage on 13 minutes.
Five minutes later came another free kick but this time to the visiting team. A good low shot was matched by a good save from Hilto in the Motors goal. TNS continued to look for an equaliser when Simon Davies struck a good shot towards goal but fortunately for Vauxhall, trialist Alan Griffiths cleared just in front of his goalkepper and eventually was safe of any danger.
Half way through the first half there was a free kick due to an Alan Griffiths foul on Wilde, but the free kick was easily dealt with and a corner was the next thing for Vauxhall to defend. The corner was hit long to the back post and the former Yeovil Town defender Agbrey was unable to find a fellow team-mate with a headed pass.
The Welsh Runners-up could of drawn level on 27 minutes when some slack defending by full back Ben Camara led to Wilde just hitting the post. Not long after, Alan Griffiths failed to pick out a pass and the ball fell into the path of Scott Ruscoe who would have picked out Wilde but before the ball was able to reach him he was fouled by Chris Whelan.
The last attack of the half came to Vauxhall when Nicky Young headed down a Robbie Lawton cross but Chris Jewell's shot failed to trouble Doherty in the TNS goal as he watched the shot go wide.
Half Time: Vauxhall Motors 1-0 TNS
As like the last friendly Vauxhall Motors made a number of changes being: Ralph repalcing Hilton in goal, Ward came on for Lawton and was played right mid, Fearns replaced the goalscorer Young, Cumiskey partnered Fearns up front and Hughes came off, Wright came on for Jewell, Nesbitt went straight into midfield when he replaced Lynch, Hooper was the second centre mid when he came on for McCann, the second half captain from last week Robinson replaced Alan Griffiths, Rigby played on the right of the defence rather than left hand side that he did against Tranmere Rovers when he came on for Camara. Finally the last change led to McDabbs making his debut for Vauxhall when he went to left back after replacing McDermott. Due to all of the Vauxhall changes Peter Cumiskey took the captain arm-band. TNS made five changes when Williams came on for Doherty in goal, Wood repalced Naylor, Leah came on for Davies, Perry went up front after he replaced Wilde. Finally for TNS Ward replaced Toner.
The first attack of the second half was a free kick rewarded to TNS that Bridgwater fired low but straight at Ralph. On 56 minutes Peter Cumiskey shown some good determination to try and get the ball, and the ball ended up nearly going out for a goal kick before Terry Fearns shown some excellent pace and kept the ball in. After doing that he turned in side and hit a fantastic shot that went in off the post and The Motormen were well on the way to their first win in pre-season.
Vauxhall mounted another attack with a good ball from Peter Cumiskey that played in Carl Nesbitt who struck a shot that pulled out a good save from Williams. It was now TNS's chance when they had a free kick from about 20 yards out but it came to nothing when the ball hit a well positioned Motors wall.
With 15 minutes remaining Vauxhall had the chance to score another when Terry Fearns held the ball up and passed it to Derek Ward who did well to keep his shot down but Williams was more than equal to it and made a very good save.
A couple of minutes later TNS could of pulled one back when a good cross came in from the right and Scott Ruscoe thought he had scored only to be denied by the post and Chris Whelan headed the ball behind for a corner. From the corner Andy Ralph came out to claim a Ward cross and the pressure was off Vauxhall.
The last chance of the game fell to TNS when the ball was crossed in from the wing and Motors half cleared and Ruscoe shot wide.
