The Southend Evening Echo is reporting that New Southend goalkeeper Steve Collis has warned Darryl Flahavan to step up his game or risk being replaced as the Shrimpers number 1. The full article reads as follows.

Steve Collis is aiming to push for Darryl Flahavan's first team place after completing his free transfer switch to Southend United.

The 25-year-old shot-stopper has become the Shrimpers' first signing of the summer following his move from Yeovil Town.

And he is now aiming to keep Flahavan on his toes when the Championship season kicks off in August.

"Darryl is a fantastic keeper and he definitely deserved to be in the League One team of the year last season," said Collis, who has signed a two year deal at Roots Hall.

"I'm looking forward to working with him because it will help me improve but at the same time I will be pushing him all the way for a place in the side."
