Deaths - Popular early goalkeepr Charles Cotton died aged 30 in January 1910 from a rare kidney disorder
known as brights disease.

Essex - There's only 1 team in essex as the popular terrace chant suggests

First Season - Southend uniteds first season was 1906/1907 and the squad took part in both the Southern League Division Two and the South-Eastern League Division two

Goalscoring Debuts - Every Southend fan remembers Freddy Eastwoods 7.7 second debut goal against Swansea in 2004/2005

Hat Tricks - As well as eastwood scoring a 7.7 debut goal that turned into a debut hat-trick

International Caps - Whilst many internationals have played for Southend during their careers only nine players have been awarded full international caps whilst playing for the club

Jail Birds - In September 1934 Joe Wilson, Dave Robinson and Bert Jones were in court accused of poaching. Police stopped their lorry and found 62 rabbits and four guns.
Wilson was fined £1 and the others 10/-, and there guns were confiscated.

Keith Jones - Extremely popular captain during his time at Roots Hall, Keith started off with Chelsea
but joined Southend from Brentford in October 1991. Sadly allowed to leave for Charlton in 1994
and was a cornerstone in there elevation to the Premiership
during 1997/1998
