Garden Village inflicted a second defeat in ten days on struggling Pontyclun at their Ivor Park ground and also moved above rivals Morriston Town in the league table.

The first-half finished goalless but Steven Evans broke the deadlock 11 minutes into the second period with a thunderous strike inside the area, while Ashley Richards doubled the advantage with 15 minutes remaining with a spectacular half volley.

Pontyclun pulled one back from a corner shortly before the end but the visitors held on for the three points.

David Rimmer had to be taken off early in the match after the defender pulled a calf muscle and was replaced by Matthew Cannon, who only made his first league appearance for the first-team five days ago.

Full report will follow shortly...

Village: Mark Snell; Jamie Mansell, Steve Bater, David Rimmer (Matthew Cannon 20'); Dayle Selvage, Carl Alfei, Paul Bromage, Steven Evans, Marc Thomas; Ashley Richards, Owen Williams (Nigel Rogers 71').

Not Used: Nicholas Romanello.

First-Half Length: 47m 52s; Second-Half Length: 48m 01s.

*Pontypridd Town have won promotion after their 4-1 win over Cardiff Corries, while down at the other end of the table Gwynfi United were relegated after losing 5-2 against Croesyceiliog.
