The pitch at Blandy Park in Pontycymer prior to kick-off was completely under water in places and quite badly cut up, but it was still given the go-ahead by the referee.
Geoff Martin, who hails from Bridgend, then decided to abandon the match after 20 minutes when the score was 0-0.
It was one of ten matches in the Welsh League to be abandoned during the afternoon, they included: Division 1: AFC Llwydcoed v Maesteg Park (53 min), Bettws v Afan Lido (45 min), Goytre United v Ely Rangers (44 min) and Ton Pentre v Pontardawe (19 min); Division 2: Caerau Ely v ENTO Aberaman (45 min); Division 3: Ystradgynlais v Treharris Athletic (45 min); Reserve Div. West: Maesteg Park v Goytre United (53 min); Reserve Div. East: Bryntirion Athletic v Pontyclun (40 min) and Caerleon v Ely Rangers (45 min).
A further eight matches were postponed in the Welsh League, including the Seconds' home match against Cwmamman United, while only five matches went on throughout the Carmarthenshire League. Village 'Fourths', who lead the way in the Reserve First Division, did manage to complete their match at second-placed Seaside Reserves and claimed a credible point from a 1-1 draw. The Thirds' home match against Pwll in Division 1 was postponed.
