Garden Village progress into the semi-finals of the Welsh League Cup after overcoming Third Division promotion-chasers Llanwern at Newport Stadium.

Paul Dickie struck early on before the home side levelled mid-way through the first-half but Marc Lloyd restored Village's lead just before the break. Llanwern equalised for a second time shortly after play re-started but Paul Dickie scored his second of the game and eleventh of the season to ensure Village of a place in next month's semi-finals.

Llanwern also had a defender sent off 6 minutes into injury-time after he looked to have head butted Chris Thomas.

There were shocks in the other three ties of the Shamrock Travel Cup with runaway First Division leaders Neath Athletic losing 2-0 at Pontardawe Town, Morriston coming away from Maesteg Park with a 3-1 success and Penrhiwceiber shocking UWIC 3-2 at Cyncoed.
