Garden Village 3 Paul Dickie 2 & Ashley Richards
Caerau (Ely) 0
Welsh League Division 2 Saturday January 21st, 2006
Paul Dickie took his tally to 5 goals in 4 games since joining the club in December to help Village to victory against Cardiff-based side Caerau (Ely) at Stafford Common.
Ashley Richards and Dickie both found the net in the first 45 minutes to give the home side a 2-0 advantage at the break, while in the second-half the former Ynystawe Athletic striker scored his second to record Village's best result at home this season.
The home side were looking to better the 2-0 defeat recorded at Cwrt-yr-Ala back in August - a game in which both Steven Evans and David Rimmer were dismissed - which they did, and have another chance to have a go against Caerau when they visit us again this week for a place in the last 8 of the Shamrock Travel Welsh League Cup.
Bob Lloyd was full of praise for his players after the result which took Village up to fifth, but reserved a special mention for his front pairing of Ashley Richards and Paul Dickie, who between them have found the net on 8 occassions in the last 4 matches.
"They are certainly finding the net which is good news," he said, "But I must say that when Derrick Jenkins and Lee Waite replaced them they also looked a good pairing, so at the moment we are looking quite strong in that area."
He also singled out midfielder Paul Bromage by crediting him with "a very good midfield display."
