Garden Village AFC
Unbeaten Run Extends To Six After Corries Win

Derrick Jenkins marked his return to the Village starting eleven with the only goal of the game to beat strugglers Cardiff Corries at Stafford Common. The former Briton Ferry forward made his return from a 4-week injury lay-off in last weekend's win at Penrhiwceiber as a substitute.

His second minute strike against the Radyr-based outfit was his first league goal in Village colours but his second for the club; he opened his account in the 2-1 defeat at Llansawel in round 1 of the West Wales Senior Cup in October.

The win, our fourth in consession and fifth in the last six games in all competitions, has rocketed us up into fourth-place in the league. We're level on points with third-placed Caldicot Town, but have a far inferior goal difference, and only a point off the top two of Pontypridd and Garw. Our only disadvantage is that we've played more games than all of our promotion rivals.

We face a Swansea derby match at eighth-placed Morriston on Saturday before completing our 2005 fixtures against rock-bottom Pontyclun at Stafford Common on New Year's Eve.
