Village Pick Up First League Points Since August
By Owain Johns - October 3 2005

Gwynfi United  1

Garden Village  1

Welsh League Division 2
Saturday October 1st, 2005

Garden Village picked up league points for the first time since August courtesy of a 1-1 draw at Gwynfi United with the visitors' goal going in off an unfortunate home player. That was the game's first goal but Gwynfi, who recently had 6 points deducted for fielding an ineligable player, fought back to equalise and the scores remained level up until half-time in horiffic conditions.

Village boss Bob Lloyd thought that his side did enough to go on and win the game but, that wouldn't be the case as the Afan Valley side held on for a draw on a poor pitch at their 'Cape' ground.

The afternoon's low point came mid-way through the first-half when defender Neil Lloyd suffered a broken leg. We understand that Neil, who was taken to Bridgend Hospital, is fine and that he's suffered a clean break. No free-kick was rewarded or red/yellow card was given by the referee after the incident occured.

On behalf of everyone at the club, we'd like to wish Neil a speedy recovery from injury.

We've dropped a place down to seventh in the league after Saturday's result, and face a tough test against second-placed Troedyrhiw on Saturday at Stafford Common, kick-off 2.30pm.
