My Baseball Story - Peter Cossins

Was it the Grand Slams? Was it the Triple Plays or the Strikeouts? Was it because of the atmosphere in the ballparks or the allstar ballplayers? Or was it simply that you were born into baseball-loving family? Tell us, in your own words, how did you become interested in the great game of baseball?

The A's and I

Visiting a friend in San Francisco back in 1991 he insisted on taking me to see the A's (nobody in SF watched the Giants then) play the White Sox in an afternoon game. Sitting behind home plate watching the likes of Canseco and Henderson I was hooked.

Bo Jackson made an appearance on the Sox bench and was given an ovation by the crowd as he'd just been forced out of football with injury. The A's won 6-5 on the back of a debut performance from a 17 year old pitcher who was still in high school (Todd somebody?). A fantastic day, I've been following the A's ever since.
