Mid Season Report Card 4
By Mick Jeffrey June 20 2003
Half of the season has elapsed, with only 1 win in 12 starts and that was in Round 1. We will analyse the performances of each individual player in terms of a rating and a comment.
MATTHEW ROBBINS: 9 games, 0 goals. Pushed the panic button against West Coast in the last 30 seconds of the match. Apart from that lapse in concentration, Robbins has had a sound season punctuated by injury once again, this time suffering a neck injury against Essendon. Proving to be valuable in defence and should be kept for the next few seasons should his body stay reasonably healthy. RATING: 6/10

WAYDE SKIPPER: 7 games, 0 goals. Tall customer who has made his 1st appearnaces for the club this season. Looked a likely type against Essendon, but since then has been struggling because of the attention from opposition players. Will be absent for a long period following a punctured lung suffered against Sydney and the subsequent 10 hour train journey to get home. RATING: 4.5/10

ROHAN SMITH: 12 games, 6 goals. Returning to his best form this season and probably leads the club best and fairest count. His experience and skill across half back has been not only invaluable, but also first class. Could get an All-Australian jumper at the end of the season should his form not taper off in the second half of the year. RATING: 8/10

TIM WALSH: Yet to make debut. Unlikely to make a senior debut this season, but is one to watch. Is now concentrating on playing for his school given that he is still in Grade 12 in High School. RATING: N/R

SCOTT WEST: 12 games, 2 goals. Handed the captaincy after the season ending injury to Chris Grant, and has handled it well. Up there in some of the leagues statistical categories as he seems to be in most seasons. Will look to lead the team to more victories in the next 10 games. RATING: 7.5/10

PATRICK WIGGINS: 4 games, 1 goal. Has not had a look in this season with his appearances in the team going largely unnoticed. Has the height and the weight to go with key forwards, and should really be given a chance to impress. If he is not, he may need to find alternate employment come next year. RATING: 3/10

CAMERON WIGHT: Yet to make debut. Project player. Will be seen next year when he has put on a little more weight to his tall frame. RATING: N/R
