Mid season Report Card 3
By Mick Jeffrey June 20 2003
Half of the season has elapsed, with only 1 win in 12 starts and that was in Round 1. We will analyse the performances of each individual player in terms of a rating and a comment.
STEVEN KRETIUK: 6 games, 0 goals. It appears that injury has finally caught up with a loyal servant of the club. Still in the best 22 according to Peter Rhode, but that may change by then end of 2003. Perhaps retirement is on the cards. RATING: 4.5/10

KEIRAN McGUINNESS: 8 games, 1 goal. Still finding his way in league football. Tried as a tall defender, but really should find a home in a key forwad role allowing others to play in other positions. Appears to look lost in defence at times, but due to the lack of height will probably play there when he gets another opportunity. RATING: 5/10

JORDAN McMAHON: 11 games, 8 goals. He would be one of the best youngsters in the league had he gained some weight. Speed to burn is worrying many defences, and has improved his skill level from last season as well. He can only improve as a footballer if his development continues at this rate. RATING: 6/10

WILL MINSON: Yet to make debut. Maybe next year, as it appears that he will spend most of the year at Werribee reserves and he is the 4th string ruckman. RATING: N/R

BRAD MURPHY: Yet to make debut. Not the worst in the Werribee side, but may have to wait until 2004 for an opportunity. Not related as far as I know to Robert. RATING: N/R

ROBERT MURPHY: 12 games, 3 goals. The re-emergance of Rohan Smith has contributed to Murphy having a relatively quiet season so far. Would like to see him spend some time in midfield, but at this stage of his development he will be used on a back flank. May also have contratual matters on his mind. RATING: 5/10

MARCUS PICKEN: Yet to play with club. Will be desperate for an opportunity and if the coaching staff were wise, they would give the son of Billy a chance. At least we know his is a capable defender. RATING: N/R

SAM POWER: 11 games, 1 goal. Groomed as a defender, but has struggled a little this season. May need to be shifted forward to see what he can do there. If not, he may be trade bait so he can join older brother Luke at Brisbane. RATING: 4/10
