Bulldogs Blow it yet again
By Mick Jeffrey June 13 2003
Before the game, no one even gave the Bulldogs half a chance of coming within 10 goals of the West Coast Eagles. After all, the confidence had to be shot after 3 winning leads were blown in three weeks.
Fast forward to the final minute of the game on Sunday. The Bulldogs were in front by a goal with less than a minute left on the clock but had to kick in from a behind. The kick manages to find Matthew Robbins who calmly tries to eat as much of the clock as he can.

What happebned in the last 30 seconds could be described as mayhem. Instaed of kicking long towards the boundary line, Robbins decides to try to run across the goal face. This sort of backfires, having been hemmed in in front of goal. Then rather than concede another behind, he decides that the pressure is too much for him and he decides to pass to Steve Kretiuk, who gives off to another only for the ball to be turned over.

As we all know by now, the turnover saw Ashley Sampi give the Eagles a share of the points. Another lead squandered by the Bulldogs, although unlike previous weeks, they do not go home empty handed.

The finish overshadowed another spirited performance from the side. Nathan Brown was in doubt at the start of the week carrying a bruised shoulder injury. He proceded to kick a bag of 7 goals to be easilly one of if not the best on the ground. The supporting cast was there in cameo roles, with the likes of Garlick, Harrison, Johnson and Hargrave providing scoring punch at different stages of the game.
