Since We Last spoke.....
By Mick Jeffrey May 30 2003
Before I update the happenings of the club, I apologise for the lack of an update during the week. Unfortunately I was busy with a few other things and hope to schedule a time to update next week.
Last Sunday seemed to be 1997 all over again. Sure, the game was not at the MCG and sure, this was not for a birth in the Grand Final, but the stakes were just as high for this game as it was on that fateful afternoon.

Going into three quarter time, the Western Bulldogs were leading Adelaide at their home patch by nearly 4 goals. The third quarter saw some of the best play that the Bulldogs have displayed for years.

The last quartewr though could not have provided a greater contrast on the scoreboard. The Crows slammed on 7 goals to 1 to earn a hard fought 16 point victory. It was another cruel blow to the Bulldogs, who now have slumped to the bottom of the ladder with just 1 win for the season. Despite this many pundits have suggested that the Bulldogs are not the worst team going around at the moment.

Now for this week, and a vital game against the Kangaroos. For the first time in goodness knows how long the game is to be played on a Saturday, which hopefully translates to a decent crowd. The roos have surpassed many expectations this year and will be tough to beat. But many would argue that the game will probably be known as "the clash of the clubs on their deathbed". Let's hope for both club's sake that this is not the case.

The changes this week ensure that the defence gets some much needed reinforcing. Steve Kretiuk has had the advantage of a run last week with Werribee and will start the game at Full Back. The other change sees Ryan Hargrave return from the suspension from THAT punch frm THAT melee. The 2 players to make way are promoted rookie Matthew Boys, and youngster Keiran McGuinness, who many believe is being played out of position.
