Airdrie Vs Brechin Preview

By
April 28 2006

We are finally here the last game of season 2005 - 2006 and we are up against relegated Brechin City at home. Last weeks fantastic result against Ross County has given the Airdrie team a little boost but tomorrows match against the bottom of the league club may bring us crashing back down to earth.

Sandy Stewart may once again have to place himself on the substitutes bench as injuries once more dominate tonight's headlines. We have Paul Lovering definitely out, Graeme Holmes has an ankle injury, Lee Hollis has a foot injury, Stephen Robertson has a back injury, many will remember seeing him stretching it out during last weeks match, Stephen Docherty may have played his last match for Airdrie against Stranraer.

We all expect a win tomorrow but under the circumstances we may have a hard time of it. Tomorrows match will see us with a very basic squad but we have the skill and attacking power that can see us win and win comfortably.

David Dunn although not every fans favourite has done a decent job covering for Paul Lovering, Kevin Barkey has came in to the squad once again and made a decent job of it, the big question will be the keeper. Will Sandy Stewart be forced in to naming only one keeper for tomorrows match?

Opponents News

Michael O'Neill brings Brechin to us trying to build a team for next season in the Bells Second Division.

As a new manager his players are looking to prove themselves to him and in the last three games they have won one drawn one and lost one. I really don't think Brechin deserve much credit for their win though, it was Dundee and we all know how easy that is.

O'Neill is with out Gary Bollan going in to the match.

Ref Review Chris Boyle

This Season Games: 21 Yellow Cards: 80 Red Cards: 7
Last Season Games: 16 Yellow Cards: 59 Red Cards: 4

Chris Boyle has only ever refereed one of our games, it was a one - nil defeat at the hands of Stranraer at the beginning of the season.

The game saw five yellow cards and two red cards Michael Moore for Stranraer being sent off and Brian McPhee for Airdrie.

Not an auspicious start to the season.

Prediction

A win would be nice on the last day of the season, hopefully a repeat of our last home match against them but I will settle for my usual

2 v 1 to Airdrie.
