Airdrie (0) V (1) Ross County

Airdrie fall to our third defeat in a row but at least the performance was much improved from what had been offered in the previous two matches.

In a first half that had everything the Airdrie fans had been calling out for, some football, attacking play strong defending we were unfortunate not to end the game with our first points of season 2005/2006

Sandy changed formation for yesterday game and used a 4-3-3 formation.

 Hollis

Coyle, McManus, McGowan, Lovering

Dunn, McKeown, Docherty

McDougal, Roberts. McPhee

With Willie McLaren out with what is reported to be shingles so this may be a long term fitness sapping worry, Stephen McDougal was left with a chance to shine and for parts of the game he did. Chances from Brian McPhee and Stephen McDougal went begging and it looked like we would force a goal. As the first half drew to a close we were unfortunate not to go in with a two or three goal lead.

The second half began in the same vain, Airdrie quickly of the mark and Paul Lovering had a fantastic opportunity saved. Ross County retaliated by going route one,  McCaldon the Ross County goal keeper sent a long ball in to the heart of the Airdrie defence, both Neil McGowan and Frazer Coyle missed opportunities to clear the ball, McGarry fired the ball past Lee Hollis and opened the scoring for County.

Airdrie continued to play some good football for about 10-15 minutes and then our game plan disintegrated, Brian McPhee went of injured and it seemed like our battle went once again. For the first time during the match Ross County were in control and although they didn’t have any further chances Airdrie no longer looked like they were at the races.
