Clan Chief

What a sad occasion it was at New Broomfield this weekend. Not only did we suffer a defeat from St Mirren but we also lost our top goal scorer and assistant manager to St Johnstone.

There was a strange atmosphere at the game this week as the match was of secondary importance to that of the departure of Old King Coyle. There was a feeling of anti climax as the ref blew for full time, Oweny came out the dug out applauded the fans and then made his way up the tunnel and that was it, all that was left was a feeling of emptiness and the hurting knowledge that Owen had wore the Diamond for the last time.

All that is left now are memories that stretch back fifteen years. It is no exaggeration to say that Owen Coyle is an Airdrie Legend he is up there with Whiteford and McMillan.  Hopefully we the fans will get the chance to give him a proper send off at the player of the year night in the Town Hall and thank him for his services to the club.

I’m sure that every Airdrie fan wishes him well in his new role at Perth and wasn’t it pleasing to see his new club turn over Thistle who I noticed sacked three of their players last week for watching the Grand National in the pub rather than their team play at Starks Park. I do sympathize with them, what would you rather watch? Horses or Donkeys
