Staggies Vs Diamonds Match Preview
By Chris Mac June 5 2005
It seems Airdrie will finish the season the same way we started it, with injuries and suspensions that have ruled out many of our first team players.

Preview For Saturday, 2nd April 2005

Ross County

V

Airdrie

 Alex Smith

Sandy Stewart

Airdrie travel to |Dingwall to take on Ross County with out Martin Hardie and Paul Lovering due to suspension. Injuries to Alan McManus, Stephen Docherty, Stephen McKenna and Kevin Christie have left us almost defenceless.

So how do we play against Ross County, we have have to attack in my opinion switch to either three at the back or use our original starting formation. 3-4-3.

We go in to this game with virtually no cover in any position and it's one of those matches where every player is going to have to stand up and be counted.

 Opponents News

Ross County are looking to survive in the first division and they feel that a win over us will secure them a future in the first division.

Changed days at the beginning of the season they were tipped to be challenging for the championship.

Alex Smith has Jim Lauchlan and Stuart Taylor undergoing late fitness checks before kick-off but the home side are boosted by the return of John Robertson and Don Cowie from injury.

 Ref Review

Douglas McDonald

Games: 31 Yellow Cards: 81 Red Cards: 1

We have had Mr McDonald as the referee three times this season the last strangely enough was when we beat Ross County at home 2-1 in January. There were only two booking in that game and one of them was Martin Hardie.

The other games were the 2-0 home defeat by Hamilton in October and the 3-1 home win over Clyde in November.

Last Season Record:- Games: 36 Yellow Cards: 91 Red Cards: 8

 Prediction

Unless Sandy is playing mind games our defence is in deep trouble but as I said above an attacking performance may put the Ross County under enough pressure that it falls apart. Still taking a 2-1 win to the Diamonds.
