Coyle, Gow,
Airdrie United started the game at a faster pace and Airdrie United were put under a lot of pressure, the first goal of the game came as a wind assisted corner was deflected off of Martin Hardie and spun by keeper Mark McGeown. The gal has been awarded to Partick Thistles Derek Fleming which sits better with everyone I think. The fact the Partick Thistle Armand One was blocking the Airdrie keepers route to the ball was not taken in to account. Airdrie United, now began to play some football, we took possession of the ball at every chance but just could not break down the Thistle defence.
Airdrie United scored our equalising goal from a corner taken by David Dunn. An in swinging cross to the far post found defender Alan McManus un-marked, Armand One seemed to wander in to the centre of the box, his simple powerful header burst the back of the net and Airdrie were back in the game.
Both teams had chances to score late in the half and Mark McGeown was forced to pull of an instinctive save after Armand One was given a free header in side the box.
All fans know that luck during a match can change the result one way or the other yesterday both teams if they had just a little could have walked away with three points. Partick Thistle could have taken all three points when a corner swung in and bounced of the cross bar and out of play. An Inch or two lower and it could have been 2-1. Paul Lovering and Andy Gibson were booked for a hand bags at dawn episode. In a game that has more spirit than most it amazed me that there were not more bookings.
Alan Gow was spectacularly taken out of the game on at least half a dozen times and on at least three of these occasions the tackles were from behind and deserved the players being sent off never mind booked.
In the end it was still Alan who provided our best chance of scoring but the ball ran away from him and in to the Thistle keeper’s arms.
It’s a credit to the game and atmosphere that it surprised me when the final whistle blew and the game came to an end.

McGeown |
Two main jobs missed the corner saved the direct shot 10 out of 10 for his shot stopping but some of the flapping at crosses is frightening. |

Invisible at the start of the game, but once again against Partick he seemed to find his form and gave a decent display towards the end. |
