Bells Scottish 1st Division
11th December 2004
New Broomfield
We have now played St Johnstone three times this season and each of the matches seems to be a drawn out affair. This game was destined to end in a draw even before kick off. Both teams seemed to cancel each other out all over the park and only a few times did we see the performances we have watch in our previous games against St Mirren and Hamilton. St Johnstone early on surrendered control of the Mid-field and although we continued to attack there were very few chances for either team in the first half. Jerome Varielle made St Johnstone keeper Allan MacGregor pull of one or two saves but other than that there was not much to talk about in the first half.
The second half was much the same, Willie McLaren showed a little bit of his potential but other than that the game was all about huffing and puffing around the goal mouth and not much else. In football you need a little bit of luck sometimes to get the desired result, for Airdrie United on Saturday and Jerome Varielle in particular there was no luck to be seen. Late in to the second half Jerome had to watch a pin-point shot ricochet of the up right and kill off any chance we had of taking all three points from this game.
