Raith Rovers Vs Airdrie Match Preview.
By Chris MacMillan December 17 2004
Airdrie travel to bottom of the league Raith Rovers, looking to contiue our 5 game unbeaten run. Can we do it?

Preview For Saturday, 21st August 2004

Raith Rovers

V

Airdrie

Gordon Dalziel

Sandy Stewart

Sandy Stewart is boosted by the return of Alan Gow and Martin Hardie to training this week, whether they will make tomorrows game is unknown but it is hoped they will make an appearance.  Lee Hollis is still a doubt with a continuing back strain and Sandy does not expect Alan McManus to make the game due to a Ham string problem.
In December so far we have taken four points from a possible six, had one fantastic match against St Mirren and a not so terrific fixture against St Johnstone. We have no injuries worries from last weeks game, but Stephen Docherty will be missing due to suspension.
With no bookings in last weeks start, stop game, Kevin Christie survives suspension free for another few weeks.
This could be a banana skin of a game, Airdrie have been made favourites to win the fixture and personally I prefer to be the under dog. We are one of the form teams in the league at the moment and we really need to continue that form in to this fixture.
I know we shouldn't look at the teams round about us in the league, but with Saint Johnstone hosting St Mirren one another if we win we could leap over St Johnstone and sit nicely in fifth position.

 Opponents News

Raith are in trying to turn round a time of turmoil at the club but are probably now favourites to be relegated. Our trip to Kirkcaldy sees new manager Gordon Dalziel having problems of his own.
Midfielder Paquito, is doubtful to make the game but as yet has not been ruled out, and goal keeper David Berthlot is struggling to shake off a hamstring problem. I don't expect Raith to through in the towel just yet as I said these gaes can be banana skins for teams who expect to win.

 Ref Review

Steven Duff

Games: 14 Yellow Cards: 45 Red Cards: 7

Duff Man

Duff man is the ref for this game and we last saw him ref a game where we beat Alloa 4-1 it was on the 10th on November 2003 and a certain Mr Stewart was booked during the game. This will be the first game that Mr Duff has officiated in the first division this season. A promotion or just sent to annoy us after abusing our previous two referees.

 Prediction

We have to win and we have to win comfortably, Raith will sit back and defend just like most of the team do when we play them. Do we have the fire power if Hardie and Gow don't play? I'm taking Airdrie to win 3-0.
