This is taken from the Black and white army maych report

"More sustained pressure after this saw Coyle eventually curl a superb twenty yard drive round Hinch and in off the post to hand the home side the win they in all honesty deserved. Saints have not yet faced a better side than Airdrie this season and on a day when too many buddies had a bad day at the office this was a defeat which only the most biased buddie could argue against."

Just going on the home game vs Airdrie earlier in the season Coyle isn't the threat he used to be. He didn't seem to have the pace to get to the ball first anymore (here's hoping) and I thought they looked more dangerous after he was subbed. Three points are a must for so many reasons, and I reckon we'll have to keep it together for the full 90 mins plus extra time.

Am I first back?

The defence were abysmal today and I'm including DvZ and Ellis in that.

Coyle and Gow repeatedly had all the time in the world to turn when they received the ball and in addition, whenever either one had the ball, the other one was invariably totally unmarked.

Coyle's first goal was very sloppy marking but very well taken, Gillies' free kick from 20 yards squirmed its way through the keepers arms and legs to equalise, Reilly setup O'Neill to run through and score from about 12 yards, Hinchy made a great save from a Gow shot but it fell right to Hardie who had a tap in to equalise and Coyle yet again had all the time in the world to turn and fire low in to the bottom right corner off the post.

One more thing...DIVING! mad.gif Broadfoot was rightly booked, McGinty could well have followed in the 2nd half and Murray dived at the edge of our box when he could have cleared eaily, he didn't con Dallas it 2 touches later we're 3-2 down...cut it out!!! mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

we didn't deserve to win and even a draw seems questionable now that i think of the 4 or 5 magnificent saves Hinchy made sad.gif

no surprise really - this was always going to be the game we lost, airdrie are the most underrated team in the league, and on current form, i couldnt see us winning this game, i predicted 2-1 to airdrie, close enough smile.gif

Sounds like it was a good game though, thanks for the summary RedV. Its frustrating being laid up in a splint and crutches and missing games at the moment mad.gif

We really need to turn Falkirk over next week or the league is over for us, I can see us doing it too.

The Soviet Propaganda Machine

I think St Mirren were piss-poor today and thoroughly deserved to get beat, the 3-2 score line was flattering as it should have been 5-1 to Airdrie at least as they completely outmatched Saints, and if it wasn't for Hinchcliffe unbelievable goalkeeping, it probably would have been.

Hugh Dallas was absolutely awful and so were the Linesmen, it really is a sorry state if that tosser is regarded as one of the best in Scotland

Airdrie thoroughly deserved their win today and for the first time this season our whole team ,apart from Hinchcliffe, weren't at the races.

I thought Coyle was superb today.

Hinchcliffe showed again why he is the best 'keeper in the league and he wasn't at fault for the first goal. Blame the three players who allowed Gow to cross then Ellis for being on the wrong side of Coyle.

Dallas was outstandingly bad for both teams. He missed Gow twatting Millen. An incident which led to Millen taking retribution later on.

He also missed a handball in the build up to our second goal, but he evened things up when Murray was blatantly tripped when they scored their second.

We won't play as badly as that again, I hope.

It was good game to watch, apart from the shoreline and there could have been more goals for both sides.

Pissed off at the result, but when i look at the big picture and see we've only been beaten twice in the league this season I'm actually fairly content. I've always said I don't think we'll win the league. We'll keep the pressure on Falkirk but they've too much strength in depth. In saying that if we play to our strengths next Saturday I don't see why we shouldn't beat Falkirk.

That was the best performance from a team in the first division I've seen all season. Airdrie have a lot of potential in that team and if they can find a bit of consistency and strengthen there team they will catch the top 3 no bother. Willy McLaren was the star man for me today down the left, and with Owen Coyle you will always score goals. Allan Gow also impressed me and he is surely destined for bigger things.

St Mirren never played too badly today, we've played worse and won without a doubt. Thought McLaren ripped DVZ apart second half, and Coyle seemed to turn McGowan every at will. Also Reilly was uncharacteristically poor and seemed to lose the midfield to Martin Hardie and he was rightly substituted. Also it was pretty desperate when we had to put a blatantly unfit Mixu on for the second week in a row to try save ourselves...

We could have came away with a result if we'd had a bit of composure at 2 - 1 but it was not to be and Airdrie thoroughly deserved there victory.

Need to compose ourselves and make sure we beat Falkirk next week or or i fear the League will be all but there's at the halfway point sad.gif

But watch out for Airdrie wink.gif
